چکیده

We propose a novel adaptive multiple-symbol differential detection (MSDD) scheme that has excellent performance over frequency selective fading (FSF) channels. The adaptive MSDD scheme consists of an adaptive noncoherent least mean square channel estimator that can accomplish channel estimation without any decision delay and the MSDD. The Malgorithm is introduced into this detection scheme to reduce the complication of computation due to increasing observed sequence length in the MSDD. Because of the application of the adaptive channel estimator and the M-algorithm, this adaptive MSDD make it possible that channel estimation is accomplished for every symbol along M surviving paths without any decision delay. And the SER performance of this adaptive MSDD is not affected by phase fluctuation introduced by a channel because the MSDD and the noncoherent channel estimator are applied. The adaptive MSDD scheme is applied to typical constellation of 16APSK, the (4,12) QAM and the star QAM. The excellent tracking performance of this adaptive MSDD scheme over FSF channels is confirmed by computer simulations. key words: multiple-symbol di erential detection, frequency se-

Linear Equalization Combined with Multiple Symbol Decision Feedback Detection for Differential Space-Time Modulation

Differential space-time modulation (DSTM) for multiple antenna communication systems has been recently proposed for frequency-nonselective fading channels. In broadband multirate systems, frequency-selective fading may occur. In this paper, the DSTM in frequency-selective fading channels is considered. A linear equalizer for the DSTM is proposed over frequency-selective fading channels. Further...

Performance Analysis of Multiple-Symbol Differential Detection for OFDM over Both Time- and Frequency-Selective Rayleigh Fading Channels

The performance of orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) system with multiple-symbol differential detection (MSDD) is analyzed over both timeand frequency-selective Rayleigh fading channels. The optimal decision metrics of timedomain MSDD (TD-MSDD) and frequency-domain MSDD (FD-MSDD) are derived by calculating the exact covariance matrix under the assumption that the guard time is l...

Coded modulation for noncoherent reception with application to OFDM

Powerand bandwidth-efficient differentially encoded transmission over slowly time-varying fading channels with noncoherent reception and without channel state information is considered. For high bandwidth efficiencies, combined phase and amplitude modulation is used. For increased power efficiency, channel coding and multiple-symbol differential detection are applied, i.e., interleaving and det...

Expanded decorrelating detector with reduced noise enhancement for multipath frequency-selective fading channels

Abstract – A novel hybrid multiuser detection scheme that jointly uses linear and nonlinear interference suppression techniques is developed for high-speed direct-sequence code-division multiple-access (DS/CDMA) communications in multipath frequency-selective fading channels. The detector detects signals in a symbol-by-symbol style. Conventional decorrelating detectors suffer from the noise enh...

In this thesis, we revisit differential and non–coherent transmission techniques over fading channels. In particular, we consider receiver design for differential space–time modulation (DSTM) over correlated multiple–input multiple– output (MIMO) fading channels and the performance analysis of differential phase shift keying (DPSK) and non–coherent frequency shift keying (FSK) in generalized K–...
